Frankincense Oil Kills Cancer Cells While Boosting The Immune System, Studies Show

A number of studies have shown that Frankincense is a powerful medicinal oil that can not only strengthens the immune system but also destroys cancer cells.

According to scientists from the Leicester University in the UK, the chemical responsible for the anti-cancer activity of Frankincense oil is acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA for short). AKBA triggers the cells of ovarian cancer and kills them, without damaging healthy cells.

The conclusions were especially important because they showed that AKBA had this effect even in late-stage ovarian cancer patients, not just in laboratory trials performed on isolated cancer cells.

“Frankincense is taken by many people with no known side-effects,” lead researcher Kamla Al-Salmani explained. These findings can be taken to a clinical trial level, and later used in treating ovarian cancer.

Kills cancer and reduces radiation side effects

The Leicester findings only contributed to the evidence that frankincense and its compounds boost immunity and fight cancer.

A 2009 study published in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine proved that herbal forms of frankincense activates cellular pathways, and thus triggers apoptosis. Researchers at Nihon University in Tokyo conducted a study that was published in Biological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin. It was discovered that components in frankincense can kill three different neuroblastoma cell lines. This study also revealed that frankincense stops the growth of Epstein-Barr virus.

Neuroblastoma is a cancer that affects nerve cells, and it is most common in children. Frankincense can also destroy brain, breast, colon, pancreatic, prostate, and stomach cancer.

Frankincense may also help decrease the often-debilitating side effects of cancer treatment. A 2001 study published in Cancer involved patients diagnosed with brain cancer. They had cerebral edema or swelling after their radiation. Researchers reported that 60 percent of participants who received frankincense had a 75 reduction in their swelling, which is why frankincense can be used as an alternative to steroids, the most common therapy.

Frankincense oil benefits immune function

Frankincense boosts immunity, which is why it has such a great power when it comes to destroying cancer. Researchers at Baylor University Medical Center confirmed that frankincense works on the expression of genes that regulate immunity, which eventually kills cancer. Another study from Phytotherapy Research revealed that frankincense exhibits the increase of key markers of the immune system, especially white blood cells and anti-inflammatory potential.

Many studies have confirmed frankincense as a powerful anti-inflammatory. It can help in the treatment of infections, and autoimmune conditions like asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Also, it can be used to heal skin, including from acne and scarring, and can reduce anxiety levels.

If you want to incorporate frankincense oil as a natural health booster, it can be taken as an undiluted essential oil on the skin or as a few drops (2-3) under the tongue 2-3 times daily. Frankincense oil can be also diffused and breathed in for respiratory conditions. You can also find it in powdered capsule form.

There are many species of frankincense, including Boswellia carteri, B. serrata, and B. sacra. All three of these species have shown powerful anti-cancer effects in scientific tests (especially B. sacra).
